As the new year approaches, we must remember that focus, attitude and goal setting can be our best business strategy for 2010. After Jan 1, 2010 we will all hear about new year’s resolutions and goal setting, but most of the buzz tends to fizzle out quickly. However, the most successful business networkers find that proper goal setting and consistent follow through are key to their business success. Here are some tips to ensure you stay on track and reach your career goals for 2010.
Goal Setting:
- What goals were made this year? Reflect on your year, where did you excel and where can you grow?
- What are your 7 primary objectives in 2010?
- Break up goals in to 3 month, 1 year and 5 year objectives.
- What tools will be used to help reach your goals?
- Choose your friends carefully. You will become who you associate with. Decide who to align or break ties with.
- Make goals performance based instead of results based. Focus on what is within your control and the results will come.
- Prioritize your goals so you know where to keep your energy.
- Keep them measurable so you can track them.
- Share your goals. Your sphere of influence will hold you accountable and let you know when you may be off track. They will also celebrate with you when you succeed!
